In the vast landscape of podcasting available to internet users, there is no doubt many of the these feeds are devoted to aspects and opinions on the many channels of pop culture. Standing high above all of them when it comes to the point of view of what it means to be a fanatic is Team Jack, part of the Smodco  Broadcasting family brought to you by Kevin Smith.

Jack Morrissey, the namesake of Team Jack, was approached by film maker Smith to podcast due not only to his knowledge of pop culture, but for his radio voice, as he dubs it. Instead of focusing directly on the mediums of film or otherwise that Jack and his co-hosts Matt Cohen and Greg Yolen are interested in, his podcast became focused on the voice of, the analyzation of, and the sense of community in being a fanatic.

A Tough Nut to Crack

NuttyMadam Metro photoHer name is Emma Clark. You may not know her by that name, however. If one were to mention YouTube’s Nuttymadam, or “the crying Twilight fan”, or “AMAZING BOOOOK”, that may ring more of a bell. Emma is a Twilight super fan, and the eyes of the pop culture community are on this young woman as the Twilight film series is drawing to a close. Part Two of Breaking Dawn is slowly releasing around the globe, and though the DVD/BluRay will be out months from now, the fans have reached a bit of a mourning period of the saga ending, which Emma agrees with via Twitter.

NuttyMadam tweetThough the film series has drawn to a close, Emma has gained a lot of recognition over the years for her dedication to the Twihard fandom due to her outspoken and spirited views on Twilight with all things that go with it. I’ve even interviewed her quite a few times on my BlogTalkRadio show HERE. Aside from watching her YouTube videos, check out THIS, THIS and THIS for some great recent interviews or final movie coverage she has done for large media outlets who have taken notice of her, including celeb gossip blogger Perez Hilton, who is her biggest fan!

High “Profile” Collecting

You know the saying  ”Don’t quit your dayjob”? Well with the whacky and unique items Brian Chanes and Tracey McCall of Profiles in History see on a day-to-day basis, why would they want to? I mean, c’mon, SteveO of JackAss once came to the crew to have his leopard man-thong appraised. Seriously.

Fan-Culture.org caught up with the two PIH employees, who you may also  recognize from the Syfy series Hollywood Treasure (back on-air May 22nd) featuring Joe Maddalena. In this video interview, the two are not above being fans themselves, stating if they had unlimited money, Tracey would bid on a Marilyn Monroe dress and Brian wished he could have bid on the orinal Star Trek Command Chair PIH once had in their possession.

“There’s something for everyone,” McCall said on the variety of auctions they hold, as well as fan interests themselves. “That’s the beauty of collecting – everyone and anyone can be a collector!” You can check out another PIH related exclusive via a post on this site from a while back on the fan who won this auction house’s raffle contest.

My Date with Drew

Image(Photo Credit to Amazon.com) “I have 30 Days and $1,100 to get one date with Drew Barrymore!” From an outsider’s glance, this seems like a lofty (read as: unrealistic) goal, but Brian Herzlinger was a man determined to follow a childhood dream when he first started this on-camera journey in 2003.

I came across this film in the documentary section of my local Movie Stop (a used DVD store) and I fell in love with it. Herzlinger at the time was aspiring to land steady work behind the scenes in film or television, but was struggling. When he won $1,100 on a game show, he decides to take a hint from fate when the winning answer was Drew Barrymore, a celebrity Herzlinger had a crush on since he was 6 years old when Drew was also a young’in.

This genuine chronicle of Herzlinger’s mishaps is engaging and sure to leave you inspired once you’ve watched all the way through to the end of the credits. It’s also a great film for fanatics because Herzlinger throughout the process expresses the utmost respect for his celebrity of choice, repeatedly turning down ideas from friends that would make him seem like a “stalker”, and he also shows you can use your fandoms towards achieving your goals. Winner of many film festival awards, you can buy the movie on Amazon.com or download it on iTunes.
