You’ve no doubt had it stuck in your head from the radio lately and you may have even have had a peak of the eclectic and satirical music video that has had 206 Million plus views on YouTube. Either way, it is obvious that you have heard or heard *of* “Shake it Off” by Taylor Swift. What you may not know is an interesting back story behind the music video.
Around the 3 minute and 10 second mark of the video HERE, you see Taylor dressed in a simple black outfit surrounded by a white background with a bunch of kids dancing around her wearing colorful clothes. These are fans of hers, sought out by her fan club Taylor Nation. Kira Morrison is one of these fans.
“Her team just scoured the internet for dedicated fans,” Kira tells Fan-Culture.org. “Very secretive, I could only tell my family where I was going” she continued through explaining the process of being picked for this video taping.
“They called it ‘Project Cardinal’ and once they sent me all the details, I kind of figured it was probably a music video, but they said it was a shoot,” she states. “Most of us [at the shoot] were Taylor fans…and they were telling us not to mention the talent around anyone [else].”
And the moment it was revealed what was going on? “Mostly internal freaking out,” she says with a reminiscent smile. “She [Taylor] came out and I basically died. But I had to keep my cool, and she was so nice and gracious with everyone.”
Taylor met with Kira on the set and told her how she thought her dimples were cute, how she was touched that her music inspired Kira on her path to become a professional musician, and even sent a bunch of swag to her after the video was released publicly!
